Payroll Year End planning dates
By mid March - Register with HMRC
5 April - Complete your final 2011/2012 payroll and start to prepare for year end returns
6 April - The new tax year begins. Make sure you are aware of any changes that will need to be made to your employees’ tax codes for 2012/2013
19 April - If you’re paying tax and National Insurance by cheque, it must reach HMRC by this date
22 April - If you’re paying tax and National Insurance electronically, it must reach HMRC by this date. The 22 April 2011 falls on a Sunday, your cleared payment must reach HMRC no later than the last bank working day before the 22nd
19 May - P14 and P35s must be submitted to HMRC by this date. (If you are exempt from the requirement to file your Employer Annual return online your paper return must reach your HMRC office by 19 May)
31 May - You must distribute P60s to all employees still working for you on 5th April 2012 by this date
6 July - File expenses and benefits annual return to HMRC (forms P11D, P9D and P11D (b))
